Two of my Favorite Sisters - Character Sketchbook

Artist Danny Roberts Drawing of Sophie Ward and Gemma Ward sisters as little kids age 5 and 7

Well, i wasn't sure if I was going to finish this drawing in time, but i finished!
So my sista from another mista, Sophie Ward, posted a while back on her blog Paper Castle Press
an article she wrote for Australian Harpers Bazaar.
In the article, there is a picture of Sophie and Gemma at age 5 & 7,
And it pretty much is the cutest picture i have ever seen.
i've been meaning to draw it for years, and finally I couldn't resist drawing it.
i miss Sophie. It was so much fun painting the sisters :)
I hope you like it.

Fashion Artist Danny Roberts Sketch oh IMG Model Newcomer Charlotte Free in volume 3 of his character sketchbook drawing 205 based of igor and andre photo backstage at charlotte ronson fall 2011

Morning!
Well, spent all yesterday painting and sketching up a storm,
and needless to say my studio is so so so so so messy,
so some cleaning is in order today. ;)
Also I'm happy to say, i started up working on my Character Sketch Book again!
It is like an old friend i've missed a lot.
That book/series is definitely my favorite and most personal series,
so I'm glad to get back working on finishing Volume 3! (though I'm still at the start)
The Drawing today is Character Sketchbook drawing 205,
And it's of IMG Models Pink Haired Girl Charlotte Free.
I took this picture backstage at Charlotte Ronson Fall 2011 Show and knew it would make for a great drawing.
I really like how it turned out. I love her expression in the drawing.
Makes you kind of wonder what she is thinking about, don't you think?
I hope you like it ;)

Gemma Ward - Character Sketchbook 134

Artist Danny Roberts Painting of model Gemma Ward for his character sketch book 134

Morning!
How are you doing today?
Me? (Yawn)
I'm still waking up...
Went to see my friend Sean play in a new band he is in called "Foster the People".
They are incredible! Really great and fun music.
Actually, their ep just came out today on itunes. You can get it here.
The Image today is from Volume 2 of my Character Sketch Book.
It was a pen drawing i did of Gemma Ward, but once i outlined it, it seemed like it needed something else so i added acrylic, and then color pencil.
I'm not sure what it is about this one, but it's one of my favorites in the series.
I hope you like it :)

First Ink Painting

Danny Roberts first ink Painting of Gemma Ward out of the artist Character Sketch book

I was looking through Volume 1 of my Character Sketchbook,
and i just had to post it.
It's actually my first ink painting i had ever done.
It was the 45th picture in the series and the picture of Gemma Ward just looked like it should be painted.
I don't know why i love this series so much.
It's pretty raw and they aren't my best drawings, but for some reason it's one of my most favorite projects i've done.
I really want to start working on Volume 3 now.
Well, i hope you like it!
Oh, also if you have questions for the video question and answer with me and my brother, please ask it ;)
Hope you're having a great night!

Crossing the Dragon Gap

Artist danny Roberts 56 th line drawing of lily cole editorial out of his Character Sketch book

Well, the drawing today is from my "Character Sketch Book" which i started right when i really started drawing...
Which was 4 years ago. So weird to think i've only really been drawing constantly for 4 years.
It seems so long ago. haha.
Well, the Phrase "Crossing the Dragon Gap" refers to traveling into the unknown,
because in the olden days map makers would draw dragons in places no one had traveled.
Well, learning how to draw was the first real dragon gap i had crossed...
And as i set goals for this next year, and mapped out my dreams for the year,
Looks like i will have to cross another "Dragon Gap".
I'm a little nervous/anxious, but I'm also so painfully excited to share the journey with you all.
Needless to say, this Image is perfect for expressing what I'm feeling right now ;)

Random story.... I Drew this in the bleachers of a wrestling tournament when i was couching wrestling with my dad. :)

BRIAN REYES RESORT 2011

LINDSAY WHITE (IMG MODELS)

The birth of a nephew had Brian Reyesthinking about the old world and the new, and the voyage between. So the Colombian-American designer took Ellis Island as the theme for his Resort collection—travel of a somewhat-less-than-resort kind. "It's a girl who brings her roots with her," Reyes said of his muse, and so there were pieces that married European flair with American ingenuity: An Austrian-stripe dress, inspired by the heavy brocaded textiles of the old world, had a detachable skirt.
LINDSAY WHITE (IMG MODELS)

There were times when the story line got in the way of the designs—a dress inspired by a violin, some imagined traveler's prized possession, felt fussy—but when it worked, it worked. There was a well-aged, slightly Mitteleuropa glamour to a lavender culotte suit shown with a cape.

Furs, which Reyes first introduced for Fall, had a continental charm, too (and a very New York cut: the T-shirt jacket). Then, the voyage: striped marinière dresses and a leather-accented "seaman's jacket" in double-faced silk crepe. And, at the end of the journey, the print: an image, snapped and then distorted, of oil and water. "The first thing she saw when she arrived," Reyes explained.
