Thom Yorke

Artist Danny Roberts Oil Painting of Radiohead Muscian and Vocalist Thom Yorke art for Stacy Dupree Birthday

So i just realized i never posted a big version of this oil painting i did of Thom Yorke of Radiohead.
I painted it two years ago for my friend Stacy Dupree.
She is a singer and shares the same birthday as Thom, so i thought it would be a good birthday present.
I really like how it turned out.
It seriously just happened.
I threw on some Radiohead and began painting and a few hours later it was done!
It's a lot different style wise than my usual stuff...
i think it kinda has the "Thom Yorke" Vibe....
What do you think?
I hope you like it :)

My new goal is to get all of the suits that Fred Astaire wore in that movie.

Oh, thank you all for the nice comments!
i'm really glad you like the prints. :)
It really means alot!

So the painting today i tried something a little different.
i just did a quick scribble sketch to try to capture the moment and emotion...

Danny Roberts Paintings from Volume 1 of The Character Sketchbook, pages 50 and 51

Well friends, i'm sitting here yawning and thinking back on the day.
It's over for me, but for most of you,
you're getting up and your day is just beginning...
i'm so ready for bed. Lately, i've been pretty tired,
i think it's normal, just been working hard.
i bought a pile of wood yesterday to use as convases! i'm excited.

Thanks for all the kind comments on the last post.
I'm glad you like that picture.
A lot of you wanted to see the full painting,
so i decided to post a link to it.
If you want to see it Click Here

The drawing i posted today is an early drawing out of my Character Sketchbook.

The Boy and The Girl

Danny Roberts Painting of the Lovers

Hello friends!
Thanks for the all the great Audrey Hepburn movie suggestions!
I think i'm going to sit down and watch every one of them. :)
i'm serious, i was so inspired after My Fair Lady
all i wanted to do was paint and think and then paint some more.

Today was great; finished up a few mini projects,
also got a valentine order today, so was getting a Valentine ready to ship out,
which was quiet fun. Oh, also, i did this painting tonight. i hope you like it.
i don't know, there is something about it that makes me smile.

Oh!! Lastly, i finally mixed the song i wrote with my good friend Christie Dupree!
I wrote the music and she wrote the lyrics and sang it.
i've been writing a fairytale story in my head for years,
and the characters are based on people in my own life.
Christie's character's name is Camille Queen of the Trees,
so that's what the song is about.
Hope you like it!
i'm off to dream land!
Night.

EDIT: Christie just Joined the Blogging Community!!!!!!
go check out her blog!

Almost done with the underpainting.
Not quiet sure what i'm doing, but it's starting to come around, i think.
i might need to let the paint sit for a day.
i hope you all aren't getting sick of the post on the process.
If you are, just let me know. :)

Horse Girl Part 2

This is a sketch on wood Danny Roberts did of of a girl on a horse. This is the Artist 5th oil Painting

Happy Wednesday!
Hope you're all doing great. My coffee is sinking in and i'm starting to feel awake... hah
Well here it is.....
It's the sketch of the horse girl on wood.
It's 5ft by 4.5ft.
i'm really excited for this one.
Not sure what the background should be...
There are 3 possible backgrounds i'm considering...
but yay! i can't wait to do this one.
After i finish it, i think i might try to do an artshow
with all my "Royal" Themed Pieces.
i'm new to the whole Gallery scene.
Do you all know the names of some galleries that my work would fit nicely in?

The Man Behind Heutchy.

The artwork here is a oil Painting of New York Shoe Design Lowe Stellberger. Wells is a designer for Marc Jacobs and now has his own shoe line called Heutchy

Howdy Folks, it's Friday!
Woot, woot!
So, so, so glad. Been working a lot.
Been dying to get painting again.
But on kinda a sad note.... i think my studio is offically full!
Like the Thom Yorke Painting is sitting on top of a chair.
Marie Claire cover is leaning a against the six foot layered picture....
hm... i guess i have one of two options;
first, maybe i can start doing Gallery shows
so it frees up more room to make more art to hang in here.....
or two, i can try to figure out how to hang art on the celling...
haha, but need to figure something out soon.

The painting i posted today is of one of my best friends brother-in-law Lowe Stellberger.
He has his own Brilliant Shoe Line called Heutchy,
which i was lucky enough to get to design a fabric for his Spring 09 Collection (which is coming soon).
Oh and the painting was my second oil painting.
i hope you like it. :)

P.S. i got the funniest fortune cookie yesterday. It said "3 months to this day, something great will happen to you".
I'm hoping it comes true... So folks, mark the calander, April 15, 2009. It's going to be a good day! hahahha

Thom Yorke

This is Oil painting is a portrait Danny Roberts did of Radiohead Singer Thom Yorke

Yay! Day after Christmas Merry!
How was all your Christmas-es?
Yesterday was an amazing time with the family.
This morning i woke up, sat down and painted a picture of Thom Yorke.
i promised my friend i would paint it for her brithday and her birthday passed,
and now i finally did it.
It's now my 3rd oil painting,
and with each picture, i've been trying to learn different techniques.
This one i tried to keep it really loose,
blind contoured on to the wood,
then painted within the lines, and re-outlined in oil pastel.
Hope you like it. :)

I'm Starting to Figure This Out

Danny Roberts Painting of Sophie Ward

Good morning my Friends!
Well, i stayed up late last night painting.
I'm still learning how to paint,
but last night was the first time where i felt like i'm going to able to figure out how to paint.
hahah. It's true. i never could picture myself being able to paint, it's such a foreign concept to me.
i've been scared of using oils, just thought it wasn't for me,
but this has been such a fun experience!
It's always fun to try something new and let it stretch you. :)
This is the third layer of paint...
i think there will propably be 8 layers.
Right now I'm letting the paint and glazes dry.
i hope you all like how it is coming along.

Too Big?

This painting is Artist Danny Roberts first oil painting.

hahah Well, say hello to my first attempt at oil painting...
i hope it comes out. It's going to be of a queen riding through a forest.
She's being chased by an unknown character,
but she has an expression like she is in control....
i'll keep you posted on it.
It's 5 ft by 4.4 ft on wood.
