1 Millionth Visitor!

SO....
I Finally had the 1 millionth Visitor today!
That's seriously mind blowing!
2 years ago when i started this blog,
i honestly didn't think anyone would ever read this blog....
Amazing. Thank you all for your support.
You blow my mind daily... Seriously!

Frida Gustavsson Plane Sketch Part 2

Well, hello my friends, how was your weekend?
Mine was so nice!
Just finished watching "It's a Wonderful Life"....
Oh, my, that movie is so good!
I have to say Frank Capra is my All Time Favorite Movie Director.
Such incredible stories and story telling.

So the Image today is Plane Drawing #2 from My Flight to New York last week.
It was my first day drawing model Frida Gustavsson.
It was the day I fell in love with drawing her too! :)
She is adorable :)
I can't wait to do a more polished Painting of her.
I hope you like this sketch.

Also I spent this weekend helping my friend Alice, revamp her site.
Alice is the one who is helping me design a little clothing collection...
She has a wonderful blog (which I've posted some images from for inspiration friday)
but we revamped the site and her blog really didn't have a name,
so we came up with the name for it "Clouds & Candy".
Cause if you look through her site, it will remind you of Clouds & Candy. Haha

Hello From Hawaii

Hawai- Day 1-2

Hello hello my friends!!
Sorry for such a long absence.
Just got connected with a little thing called the "Internet"
I'm currently sitting in my cousin's house in Hawaii less than a hundred yards from the beach.
It's currently the end of day two here.
Yesterday was amazing; my cousin Dick and my bother and I went on a hike up these mountains behind their house.
Then we hiked to some Pill Boxes back from WW2, it was incredible to see.
i have a huge fascination with WW2 so it was amazing to see from there!
Then today we slept in a little (super jet lagged),
and then we ended up going into Honolulu to the Punchbowl Cemetery.
i was blown away at how insanely beautiful the memorial was...
so brilliant looking! From there we went over to Punahou School (where President Obama went to school)
and watch my cousin's water Polo game. which they destroyed the other team 14-1.

Oh so the picture today is a little character i made up on the flight over here.
i was listening to the New Fever Ray Album,
and this Dark Queen Arose in my head out of the music.
Not sure what to name her...
any ideas?
but i really like her vibe.

Lisa Place Laying in Lace

So i just had the best bowl of chili and garlic bread for lunch and now i feel great!
Work is going pretty well.... but here's that drawing i was talking about in the previous post.
It's from the blog Lisa Place .
The picture was quiet lovely and very expressive,
and she was wearing lace, which is something i've been needing to work on,
so it seemed like a perfect combo.

Numbers 195 and 196

Well it's sunday, and i see the finish line on Voume two. I finished 195 yeserday and actually just finished 197 but haven't scanned it yet. So only 3 drawings left in the book woooooo-hooooo. really excited about this book. i hope you like it. :)

The Book of the Weird

I've been scanning and showing you all my different sketchbooks. There are still a few more.
There's still the "Old Sketch Book" which i should be posting soon, and my "Book of Figure Drawing" which... well i'm not sure if i will ever post that! haha. But the Book I'm posting from today is my weird book. I created this book in 2004, and i think i pretty much did it in one day. i was in a weird mood and i just started doodling and doodling and this book was the product of it.

Crayons at Restaurants...

For those who have been the Italian restaurant "Di Buca Di Beppo" you know that every square inch of the place is covered in old photo's. And basically old 20's-30's photo's are on of my favorite things in the world. So Last year i went there with a bunch of friends and they sat us in this big booth, and gave us crayons and paper menus. To me when that happens my body can't resist the pull or the longing... it's like the greatest formula for the most terribly fun experience. Crayons and old pictures! yea i'm getting excited just thinking about it right now. so needless to say the drawings above are the result of the incredible night.

Big Book of Models

hello friends. this sketch is one i did last year.
it's from a vogue cover. I thought i would take a picture of it as well as posting a scan,
so you could see the size. sorry the pictures out of focus. i'm home alone working, so set the camera on my tv and set the timer...
haha and my lens is only manuel focus...haha made it tough. yea kinda busy working right now. but can't wait to show you this illustration i'm working on. it's a 5 figure illustration 4 girls and one guy. got the concept sketch done now just redrafting and figuring out which models i'm going to use. :) i hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

Today i went to the Saw Dust Festival to watch my friend Ryan Baxley play. it was really fun i did this draw of him playing.

The Hand Made Sketchbook.

Well if you haven't realized yet i have a sketchbook for every occasion. There's the Character Sketchbook(which is drawing of Lily Cole, Gemma Ward, Sophie Ward, and a few here and there), theres Cowboys and Queens book(it's a all big panoramic drawing the ballerina drawing is from that), i have the "book of the wierd" for abstract drawings, a doodle book, and last but not least the Hand Made Book. The Hand Made book i made last year, it comprised of 4 different types of paper that alternate every page, so with each page turn it's an adventure. but i would doodle pictures in it. but the point of it was to do more live drawing, and also drawings of my friends, even though there are some random people through out it, here are a few pages out of it.

The Beach

Hello to all. went to the beach to day with some of my friends. ended up getting kinda burnt....
which isn;t my favorite thing in the world. but did this drawing while i was there.
thoses are my feet in the bottom right hand corner, for thoses wondering... haha

The Little Ballerinas

this is a old drawing i did in this sketch book i made that was super long.
it's of theses little girl ballerinas. Not sure why but it one of my favorite drawings.
i love that era.

First Sketch

well today was kinda a wierd day and spent it really tired. i've been working alot.
but today i did my first sketch for this up coming project i'm doing. it is super sloppy, and i was just goofing around hope you like it. for more info on the siren project i reposted the write on it from Paper Castle Press web site

The project is built out of multiple and varied artistic contributions, all building towards a final installation which will take the spectator on the journey of the story through Roberts' choice of imagery, Duprees audio and Ward's written word. Upon completion The Siren will be printed in its full entirety by Paper Castle Press."
