Igor and andre s Danny Roberts Fashion Artist painting of Christina b in a bright purple Fur Hat and a knit dress from Chris Benz new York Fashion Week Collection

Why, hello, friends!
How was your weekend?
My weekend was wonderful!
Went to the beach a few times,
Which was amazing! It's been way too long since i've been at the beach.
And spent the better part of today writing music with my friend Sean Cimino.
Can't wait for you to hear the song! :)

Well, the painting today is the last picture i did for Sundance Channel's Full Frontal Fashion.
The clothes are from the Chris Benz Fall 2010 collection.
As i have already talked at length of how much i loved Chris Benz's Collection,
this is the first of many paintings to come from the collection,
I really hope you like it :)

The Pilgrimage of Yves Saint Laurent

Painting of a girl on her knees in Yves Saint Laurent Spring 2010, this fashion illustration is by artist danny roberts for Sundance Channel Full Fontal Fashion coverage of Paris Fashion Week

Alrighty, last but definitely not least, in my painted journey through Paris Fashion Week,
we come to Yves Saint Laurent!
Ok, so i've seen a lot of shoulder pads, but i have to say, these were surprisingly awesome!
They are really fun looking!
Since we in the US are closing in on Thanksgiving, I thought this painting was quite fitting,
cause the shoulders kind of reminded me of the collars of the Pilgrims! haha
Well, i hope you're having a great week.
I hope you liked my series for Sundance Channel.
If you haven't checked out their fashion site, "Full Fontal Fashion" please do.
The site's content is amazing!
How's your week going?

Happy Christian Dior Monday

Danny Roberts Fashion Art of Christian Dior for Sundance Channel Full Fontal Fashion

Good morning, my friends!!
Shoot, this was a really fun weekend,
and now, on this Monday morning, I'm in need of some coffee!
My friends from the Band Eisley were in town this weekend,
which made for a great time.
They were touring with the band "Say Anything".
Saturday night, they performed at the House of Blues in San Diego,
and while we were in San Diego,
we ended up meeting up with Rumi (Fashiontoast) & her boy friend Colin for dinner.
It was great seeing them and catching up with them.
Last time my brother and I had hung out with them was in New York for Fashion Week.
Later that night, the whole Eisley crew came back to my house to crash.
Then yesterday, we were off to The Troubadour in Hollywood for their last concert of the tour.
It was really a good time catching up.
Forgive me for my posting absence last night!
This is why there wasn't one...

So i thought... why not make this morning a Merry Christian Dior Monday Morning! :)
This is painting 1 out of the 5 paintings of Paris Fashion Week i did for Sundance Channel's Full Fontal Fashion.
I hope you like it! and i hope your Monday is a good one...
now i need to go make some coffee! hah

Oh Yea... Did Yawl See McQueen?

Danny Roberts Painting of the Alexander McQueen Spring 2010 collection

First off, i have to say, i was completely touched by all your warm and encouraging comments on the last post!
Seriously, means alot! So thank you, thank you :)
Ok. So, did yawl see the Alexander McQueen Show??
How insane was that!?
In my life, I want to...

A) Attend an Alexander McQueen show
B) Collaborate with him on a project!

Basically, i was blown away by this collection!
So, when picking out which collections to paint for Paris Fashion Week coverage for Sundance Channel,
i had to paint something from this collection.
I really like how it turned out and crazy enough,
a week after i finished this piece, Bryan Boy twitted a link to a picture of a beautiful girl named Camilla Belle.
Oh, and guess which dress she was sporting???
Yep, this one!
It was fun seeing her wearing it.
I hope you like it!

Oh, also, my friends have been trying to get me on Facebook for a while... and i always fought it,
and my friend Ryan has been fighting getting a Twitter account,
and yesterday, he got a twitter account....
So, i broke down today and created a Facebook account.

Red Lips + Valentino Dress

Danny Roberts Drawing of a Model In valentino dress Spring 2009 Dress from Paris Fashion week for sundance chanel

Well, my friends, I'm so so glad you like my new girl!!
Really means alot! ;)
How was your day today?
So, kinda funny story today...
I got the random idea of auditioning for the 4th Twilight movie,
cause i heard they were going on, and i thought it would be a fun experience.
Plus, i've been kicking around the idea of doing a little acting...
Anyways, i found the site to sign up for the audition, filled out all the info, even uploaded a "headshot" (which was hilarious! haha)
and when i finished, it said that auditions ended about 2 weeks ago!! haha
i was like, what! come on! haha! oh well...

So, I picked the painting today in honor of that story,
cause when i was researching the audition, i stumbled on to the "New Moon" Premiere...
and was pleasantly surprised that Dakota Fanning was wearing the incredible black lace Valentino Dress
that i had painted for Sundance Chanel's "Full Frontal Fashion" as part of the Paris Fashion week coverage.
The dress was by far my pick for favorite/Best Dress of this season.
It's just beautiful and eloquent!
I really liked how the painting turned out :)
The render of the dress at that angle was actually pretty hard for me to draw!
It took way longer than i planned.
i hope you like it.

P.S. I posted pictures of my sister's display at the "L.A. CanStruction" in my image Diary. My sister's is the first picture up there. The L.A. CanStruction is a design/build competition of teams of architects, competing to design and build giant structures made entirely from full cans of food, and then all the cans are donated to the local food banks.

The Day of Donna Karan

This is Painting of Donna Karan Fall 2009 Collection by Danny Roberts

Well, hello friends.
How's your day going?
The weather out here in California is incredible today!
I'm loving it.
Spent the whole morning drawing,
and about to start up a new painting in a sec...
but i remembered i had never posted about The Donna Karan Show at NY Fashion Week.
I went with my brother and the beautiful and amazing Miss Gala Gonzalez.
Oh, and the drawing above is one of the drawings i did for
Sundance Chanel's Full Fontal Fashion of Donna Karan's Collection.
I hope you like it!

The Day of Donna Karan
Sept 14, 2009

It was probably the three weeks of working night and day without a day off, or maybe it was the the time change, or it was both,
but either way, exhaustion had finally crept up on me. The day began as one of the most hectic days yet. My brother and I got up a little late,
to a text message from Rumi (Fashiontoast). She said that she just found out that her flight went out earlier than she thought,
and that she and Colin wouldn't be able to make it to the Donna Karan show,
which was a bummer because Rumi and Colin are incredibly fun to hang out with.

All week, I was trying to coordinate schedules with the lovely Miss Gala Gonzalez (am-lul.blogspot.com), and then it hit me. I thought,
"What if Gala went to Donna Karan with us?!"
So after a few calls and texts, Gala was in. Dave and I hopped into a cab and headed down to Greenwich Village.
We arrived minutes before the time we were suppose to be there. After a little time had gone by, I got a text from Gala saying she had arrived.
Dave and I made our way through the craziness, and we finally meet Gala in person. I have to say, meeting Gala was a trip highlight, for sure.
She is amazing, and her accent is awesome, one of the most unique accents I've heard.

After greeting each other, we ascended up to the showroom and were ushered into our seats, where seconds later, to our amazement,
Milla Jovovich was seated directly in front of us. Donna Karan's Trademark "zen" vibe filled the place. The whole room hushed as the music began.

As the first model stepped into sight, I was again reminded why Donna Karan is a Fashion Icon.
The Collection had a soft and beautiful color pallet, full of gray, creme, and white with a striking red that made the collection pop.
Whether you are looking for long, amazing, flowing gowns or incredible pencil skirts, this line has it all,
with silhouettes that celebrate the female form and drape that flows like running water.
Basically, I was honored to attend such a wonderful show, and the clothes were breathtaking! :)

After leaving the show and saying goodbye to Gala and her amazing friends,
my brother and I headed off to the Conde Nast building to meet up with the wonderful Naomi Nevitt of Teen Vogue.
She was kind enough to give us a tour of Teen Vogue, which was incredible,
and we ended up sitting and talking with her for quite awhile. It was amazing getting to know her as she is a wonderful and incredibly kind.
Upon arriving back at our hotel, exhaustion fully took over.
I lay down to rest for a moment, and the next thing I knew, it was 15 hours later! hah

Full Frontal Fashion is an amazing place.
It's full of wonderful contributers from all kinds of disciplines,
from documentaries to photos or just fashion articles. It's wonderful.
So, needless to say, i was honored to collaborate and contribute to FFF.

It was fun covering the week in painted & drawn form!
