My First Window Display - Remember When

Oh my Remember When!
I almost Completely forgot i made this!
Wow it's amazing how much has happened in 2.5 years,
it honestly feels like 100 years ago.
This is my First and only Window Display I've done,
and my, oh my, it was a lot of work!
I had to cut every layer of cardboard on that thing.
and had to draw every piece twice because it was double sided.
But i really like how it turned out.
I mean, not too many times you get to draw yourself flying over the world
holding a lovely girl's hand ;)
I'm pretty sure it was 9ft X 6ft X 3ft,
and I think I have 7-8 scars from building that monster.
I hope you like it! :)

Return of the Mcqueen

Happy Tuesday Folks!
Wow, i'm tired! Spent the last 6 hours rendering a hounds tooth dress...
needless to say, my eyes are numb and hands tired!
But on another note, took a new set of pictures of my Alexander McQueen layered art piece.
The only thing is, i'm not done going through the images yet, so i will post the rest of them tomorrow, ok?
The image above is just one close up of it.
i have to say, it might be my all time favorite thing i have made.
i think it's cause it's the one that has taken me the longest to make.
i think it was something like 5 weeks to make,
but yes, i will post more tomorrow!
Hope you all are doing wonderful :)

Eco Citizen Window Display

Eco Citizen's logo
Back in October 2007, i was asked to do a window display for this Boutique called Eco Citizen, in San Fransico. This was an amazingly perfect opportunity because i was working on building large layered Art Piece. The theme was "People and Places of the world" and Joslin, the ower of Eco Citizen, gave me a few images of Chagall's "Flying Lovers" as inspiration. Also since the store is Eco-Friendly store i built the whole display out of recycled cardboard. This being my first project that was double sided it took me a little while to figure it out. I hand cut over 120 layers of cardboard to shape the hills. My concept for it was from the out side of the store, the viewer, is on the other side of the world, and as you come into the store you are in the heart of San Fransico. The Monuments start at the Great wall of China, then to Saint Basil's Cathedral, over the hill is Eiffel tower, and lastly on the other side of the display is The Golden Gate Bridge. The final display sizes is H: 6ft W: 9ft and 3ft deep. enjoy.
this is my concept sketch for the display. this is my concept sketch for the display.

In February 2006 I had an idea to create a world and characters that would represent Alexander McQueen's Designs. I looked through all his runway shows from over the years, and picked out 12 outfits for the picture. After playing around with a few sketches, I decided to build the world as a sort of 3D/2D Layered Art Piece. I used all sorts of different papers and recycled cardboard. The final dimensions of it are 46 inches long by 26 inches high and 6 inches deep. I think I still have some of the early concept sketches. If I do I'll post it up here. I hope you like it.
